The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Victorian Branch committee, in partnership with The a2 Milk Company, is proud to announce the launch of its Reading Together early childhood initiative. The CBCA Victorian branch has commissioned the creation of a unique and engaging suite of resources that includes: Reading Tips postcards, posters, suggested reading booklets and book boxes featuring some of the best of Australian children’s literature. These amazing resources have been designed to foster and support the reading experiences of Victorian pre-school children and their families. Initially, the resources will be made available to the early childhood centres in the Geelong-Corio-Norlane area – one of the 30 Best Start project sites identified by the Victorian Government to improve the health, development, learning and wellbeing of children.
The committee believes the Reading Together materials will be important in building parents’ ability to confidently guide their child’s early literacy development through engagement with quality literature in the home – a key step towards educational success and opportunity. A love of reading gives children the very best start and The a2 Milk Company is privileged and excited to have this opportunity to partner with CBCA Vic to create positive and enduring literature experiences for many Victorian families.
